US President Donald Trump voiced dissatisfaction with the Federal Reserve and said the central bank could interrupt the country’s economic recovery.

Fed representatives, including President Jerome Powell, have raised the main interest rates twice this year and have signaled two further increases by the end of 2018.

In an interview with CNBC, however, Trump said he did not approve of this, although he added that he “put a very good man” in the Fed, referring to Powell.

“I’m not fascinated,” he said to CNBC. “Because we go up and every time we go up, they want to raise interest rates again. I’m really not happy about this. But at the same time, I let them do what they think is best.”

“But I don’t like all the work that interferes with what we do,” he added.

Markets reacted to Trump’s comments with declines in stocks, the dollar and government securities yields.
