Markets keep shifting, which makes ETFs and indices look like a relatively stable way to invest right now. So we asked the experts: which indices are the most interesting to invest in at the moment?
“When choosing an index, look for the one that matches the investor’s own interests. Indices are also a long-term investment tool.”
There is no getting around the S&P 500, and what stands out this year is that the equal-weight version is outperforming the classic one, where technology companies carry the largest weight.
Anyone who wants to bet on AI cannot skip this index, even though it is a touch more volatile.
As for the Nasdaq, whatever its price, it is still the index that will best reflect the technology trend in the coming years.
I would point to the MSCI Emerging Markets index, where South Korea and Taiwan, with their AI industry companies, have a strong presence.
“I find energy-based indices interesting, since energy seems to have slipped somewhat out of focus.”
I would avoid markets such as China and India, as their performance has already peaked.
Europe is also very interesting. It is not so much cheaper as it is less trusted by investors, because of EU regulation and the dominance of bank lending.
Keep in mind that in the US, small companies will suffer from high borrowing costs.
